Day 4 - A Rainy Day In London

London

Wednesday, June 8, 2011
After a mere 12 hours of sleep and an italian coffee, we ventured out for our first full day in London. From the crack in the curtains we deemed the day sunny and left all raincoats and umbrellas behind. Bad decision! Ten minutes in the adventure the rain started and a tour bus had to save the day. Thank you big bus city tour (thanks Jeri for my birthday money which bought the tickets)!!!!!!
Here are the highlights:
- Marble Arch (we deemed Execution arch)

- A stroll thru the shops on Oxford Street (according to the man we asked for directions, "you are the only women in London who don't know how to find Oxford Street.")
- Big Ben and House of Parliament

- Waterloo
- London Tower (this Looks a little like a prison in this picture but it was amazing and it was built just before the 1100s) and Tower Bridge

- The Gherkin (egg-shaped building, we just liked the name)

- Westminster Abbey ( if you can gaze away from our faces a bit, it's in the background. This really was the best picture we took)

- Hyde Park

We ended our day with fish, chips and cidre in Knightsbridge.

When we had to ask for directions to knightsbridge, the kind man pointed us on our way and said, "Knightsbrige, well done you!" Thanks for making us fancy Megan!
Until tomorrow...
